This is a supplement to *Quasdar's classic vector guides (part 1, part 2, part 3), while also being a standalone piece. It details everything you need to know about the pseudostroke method of making pointed lines, from the node-shifting to the drawbacks.
I usually draw the stroke, match the thickness and then I convert it all into a filled path and delete the superfluous nodes to make the pointed lines (Ctrl + L might disfigure the shape). But in the end it's all about the way one is more comfortable with.
Hmm, I did something similar to this to split up a continuous section of Fluttershy's mane into two layers, but your way looks a lot more precise than what I did. I might have to steal parts of your method next time.
